We remember the heady days of January 2015, when looking to the future caused us to squeal with excitement. But when we look back, it wasn’t the franchise pictures that earned our adoration. Far from it. While Sicario and The Big Short were pleasant surprises, SPECTRE, Tomorrowland, Terminator Genesis, Fantastic 4, Avengers: Age Of Ultron were all part of a hugely underwhelming summer. So it’s with a healthy dollop of trepidation that we look to the franchise future of 2017, and ask, will Hollywood make the same mistakes? Or are they making entirely new ones?
